About Me!
I worked as an AFL (Arabic as a Foreign Language) teacher for few years before COVID-19 outbreak. The post COVID era added a lot to our work experience because of the sudden change of the communication means. This whole experience made me question the traditional ways of teaching that Arabic instructors are still depending on. After coming to the US and getting the chance to go back to school, I wanted to seize the opportunity and learn a skill that would give me access to the world of technology, so I decided to pursue Web Design. I am learning about Web development, art, photography, digital imaging, etc.
I have many stories of students suffering in their learning of the Arabic language, and how, in many cases, this made them hate the language and the teacher as well. however, I was never convinced that language was the goal, I believe that it is just a tool used to communicate thoughts. I tried to help my students back then by trying to make the language as a tool of sharing, expressing, and communicating thoughts. I strongly believe that what I am studying now is my gateway to another dimension of teaching/learning. By using these skills, I will be able to make language learning at my classroom less painful, where the students get to learn things beyond the language while unconsciously grasping the language.
